Critique
I was delighted to accept the invitation to Judge at your Easter Show. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. A big thank you must go to Ian and Marilyn Miller for their hospitality and to the Club for running such a great Show. A thank you must also go to the exhibitors who showed great sportsmanship throughout the Show. I have done a general critique, as I believe if I did otherwise I would be too repetitious in my comments. My Best in Show, Gr.Ch. Paceaway at Rosemount, was outstanding. Very striking, beautifully balanced and he moved accordingly. My Runner Up in Show, Ch. Topspott Team Sky, was a lovely feminine bitch, well balanced and moved in an effortless way. A special mention must go to the Special Veterans and Veterans. They were all in great condition for their ages, moved well and could give the younger dogs a run for their money. Overall I Found the spotting on most dogs and bitches was, to use a pun, “spot on”.
All were of good substance and very sound. There was a variation in heads, but again all were okay. I would like to see a darker eye, as I found quite a few dogs with a lighter eye. Although this is acceptable, it perhaps should be watched. The temperament was great to see, as they nearly all showed the exuberance and outgoing nature of the breed. Having stated this fact, the Minor Puppy Bitch and Puppy Bitch did exhibit some nervousness, but hopefully they will out-grow this problem with time and maturity. The youngsters all have great potential and should do well in the future. Not having been to NSW for some time it was pleasing to see the overall standard of quality of the breed. The Breeding program is obviously in good hands, so keep up the good work.
