Critique

I would like to thank the Club for the opportunity to judge this show, the hospitality shown to me and the great weather provided. Thank you also to the Exhibitors for the wonderful entry of quality dogs, the presentation of the exhibits and the sportsmanlike manner in which my decisions were received. My day was most enjoyable. Thank you.

Special Veteran Dog:

  1. Gr Ch Krystaway Doin Time - Lovely liver boy, good bone , well spotted, nice head with a lovely round and dark eye, good bone and good angulation front and rear. This old fellow showed great attitude and enjoyed his day out.

Veteran Dog:

  1. Gr Ch Ravenwynter River Red - Liver male, strong but elegant, good bone, well developed forechest, lovely length of neck flowing well into the shoulders, well ribbed back, good topline which he held on the move, well spotted, dark eye colour, tail carriage a bit high but moved with great drive and freedom and really enjoyed his time in the ring.
  2. Gr Ch Starswept Mocha Motion - Heavier liver boy than first, bit of ticking thru his spotting, strong bone and cat feet, not quite as clean from neck to shoulder as the first, good topline, good expression with dark eye colour, moved well around the ring, good type.
  3. Ch Starswept Chimney Sweep ET - Black male, finer boned and structured than the other placegetters, lovely neck , good topline, tended to weave in the rear movement

Veteran Bitch

  1. Ch Dalgaeb Happy Birthday - Black spotted, lovely strong girl, strong bone, cat feet, good substance, good length of neck, nice head and expression with lovely round eyes though they could be darker, well ribbed back, good topline, moderate angulation, balanced front and rear, moved well and showed great attitude.
  2. Ch Dallydom Amberlie ET - Black girl, lightly spotted, well boned, good eye colour, muzzle a bit narrower than I'd prefer, nice neck into shoulder well ribbed back with correct level topline, moved well but lacking the attitude of the first
  3. Ch Kirindal Gold Spangles - Liver bitch, lightly spotted, finer in muzzle, round eye with good colour, lighter in bone and substance than the first two, moved well and had good attitude.

Best Vet awarded to male – both vets lovely dogs with great attitudes and a love of life that was there for everyone to see and enjoy. They were both well handled but the boy won for his better front angulation though he did tend to exaggerate it on the stack.

Baby Puppy Dog

  1. Starswept Just A Gigolo - Black free moving boy with a lovely happy attitude, good strong bone and cat feet, well shaped head with a round eye, good length of neck, lovely angulation both front and rear, good ribbing , level topline, spotting well distributed and hopefully will darken in pigment as he matures. Moves a tad close behind. Held himself together well to win Baby of show.
  2. Phidgity Poltergeist (Imp UK) - Another black spotted pup with lovely bone and feet, good head with a lovely round dark eye, very short backed at the moment, straight in front and not as free moving as the first pup. Lovely temperament and wonderful strong black and white pigmentation..
  3. Zaland Southern Star - Black boy lacking the substance or bone of the first two, short in ribbing, good topline, lovely temperament.

Minor Puppy Dog

  1. Karridgeway Willoughby - Black boy, very prettily marked with strong pigmentation, nice head shape, round eye, earset could be higher, good front angulation, good length of neck, well ribbed back, soft in topline, moved unsteadily today.

Puppy Dog

  1. Paceaway Justa Gamble - Black spotted pup of substance with lovely strong bone and cat feet, good expression with a nice round dark eye, prefer skull to be not quite as broad, good depth of chest, well angulated front and rear, well ribbed back, level topline, well spotted. A bit loose in the hocks on the out and back but a lovely length of stride and freeflowing movement on the profile. Puppy of Show for his lovely length of stride.
  2. Dumbledeer U Dared Me - Black boy, very pretty dog, lacks the substance of the first dog, moderate in angulation but well balanced, nice head and expression, good bone, cat feet, good length of neck and level topline, chest needs to drop. Moved well.
  3. Pampard Presumed Guilty - Another black boy, big boned and framed, nicely marked, lovely attitude, moved well but is a bit big for me and lacks shape.

Junior Dog

  1. Ottatella Cardinal - Liver dog, a big boy but well proportioned and very balanced, well boned, cat feet, beautiful spotting, a lovely head, dark round eye, good length of neck , deep chest, good angulation front and rear, well ribbed back, level topline. Took him a while to settle but then he moved very well covering the ground with a lovely long stride. Junior of Show also for his lovely freeflowing stride.
  2. Arraglim Gamblin Man - Smaller, compact dog, nice bone and substance for size, cat feet, good neck, level topline, well angulated balanced dog that moved freely. Head a bit cheeky with little stop and small, almond shaped eyes, light but pretty spotting
  3. Yarrowfell Gold Sovereign - Black dog, nicely spotted, well balanced, good angulation, good topline, pleasant head, dark eye, carried his tail too high and didn't move as freely or true as the first two.

Intermediate Dog

  1. Ch Krystaway Dream Catcher - Lovely balanced black boy of good substance, strong round bone, cat feet, lovely prosternum and filling between the front legs, very nice head with dark round eye, good ear set and strong muzzle, flowing neck into shoulder, well ribbed back, level topline, good angulation front and rear, well spotted. This boy took my eye when he entered the ring and he moved truly with lovely long free flowing strides. A really well balanced attractive male. Lacked a bit of attitude at the Intermediate in Show runoff.
  2. Emerlyn Tommy Halfiger - Prettily spotted black boy with lovely free flowing movement too. This boy is well angulated, has lovely bone, substance, cat feet, he has a nice dark eye but not enough stop and therefore an almond shaped eye, ear set is good, good length of neck, deep chest, good topline, well ribbed back, good tail set, strong hindquarters.
  3. Paceaway Poirot - Strong well boned dog of good substance , good head , round dark eye, nice neck , good prosternum, well ribbed back, good rear angles and strength through to the hock, well spotted. He shows good freedom of movement but his topline softens on the move and he carries his tail too high.

Australian Bred Dog

  1. Gr Ch Swiftgait The Spellbinder - Liver male , well spotted, elegant but strong, lovely bone and substance, round dark eye, foreface a bit long for me, cat feet, very nice neck into shoulder, good topline, well ribbed back, good tail set, balanced dog with very true movement and a lovely length of stride.
  2. Gr Ch Krystaway Dot Com - Very nicely marked black, lovely bone, cat feet, pleasant expression , eyes round though a bit light in colour, skull slightly domed with ears low set, good length of neck, heavier through shoulders than first dog but good angulation front and rear giving a lovely balanced outline, good ribbing , tail well set on. Another nice mover though not as true as the winner on the out and back.
  3. Ch Dallydom Canopus - A neat liver dog, compact in shape ,strong bone to the feet, nice head, round eye, good neck and topline., nice ribbing and good tail set, moderate balanced angulation, well spotted. He moved soundly but didn't have the freedom of movement of the first two.

Open Dog

  1. Ch Pampard Paris Project - Strong, active, muscular says the standard and this striking black male is all those things. He is a beautifully balanced, well angulated dog with strong round bone and super cat feet, his head is well proportioned with lovely round dark eyes and a strong muzzle, he has lovely expression. He has good length of neck, lovely front angulation with filling between the legs and good depth of chest, well ribbed back with a level topline which he held beautifully on the move, a strong well angulated hindquarter and a well set on tail. He travelled true out and back and moved with freedom exhibiting wonderful free flowing action around the ring and looked like he could run all day. Very well handled and a pleasure to judge.
  2. Gr Ch Pampard Parisian Prince - A liver male of strong bone and substance, cat feet, well spotted, pleasing head with good expression, round dark eye and a strong muzzle: good neck, strong front, good front and rear angulation, well ribbed back, strong hindquarter, a well balanced boy who moved with freedom around the ring and showed with a lovely attitude. Another quality male who was well handled and pushed the winner strongly but I preferred the flowing topline of the winner on the move.
  3. Gr Ch Ravenwynter River Red - This liver boy was my veteran dog winner and I won't repeat his attributes except to say he has attitude plus and is a very good type.

Neuter Dog

  1. Dalysium Royal Destiny - Black male, a bit feminine, pleasant head, dark eye, nice neck, good topline, nice angles strong pigment and good spotting, moved well. I'd prefer more substance and strength of bone,
  2. Harmonyhill Casper ET - Tall liver spotted male, tended to high step on the move, shallow in chest, but had a happy attitude and enjoyed his day out.

Challenge Dog: Ch Pampard Paris Project - Quality male who kept powering around the ring and was a pleasure to watch with his lovely freeflowing movement. Loved this boy's shape, bone and substance. Best In Show

Res Chall: Gr Ch Pampard Parisian Prince - Another quality male who showed beautifully all day.

Baby Puppy Bitch

  1. Krystaway Veronica Mars - Very pretty black spotted girl with beautiful strong contrasting pigment, happy temperament, skull a bit domey, lovely front , good neck, quite a prominent wither, good ribbing and topline, good angulation and moved nicely.
  2. Emerlyn Indiana - Very young baby giving her best for her handler, head needs more stop, good feet, nice neck, held her topline well, balanced compact baby, some flecking coming through the spotting, lovely temperament and moved well.
  3. Topspott Spirit In Thesky - Strong liver pup with beautiful clean spotting, beautiful contrasting pigment, lovely bone and substance, chest needs to drop , tail carried too high, moved well with good attitude.

Minor Puppy Bitch

  1. Gemcourt Playz With Fire - Well spotted liver girl, ears are a bit dark, attractive head and round dark eye, good neck, bone and substance, good front and angulation, good depth of chest and well ribbed back, held topline well and moved freely. Minor of Show – held her shape well on the move.

Puppy Bitch

  1. Whytewood Wylde Wendy - Black spotted girl, nice markings, nice head with dark eye, good bone and feet, good neck and topline , good hindquarter, tail set a tad low, moved out freely.
  2. Pampard Perspective - Prettily marked liver with good bone and feet, good neck, and front, nice ribbing and good topline, not keen on her rear movement as she spreads her hocks.
  3. Seanmya Moroccan Gift - Fine, taller liver girl, I'd prefer stronger bone and more substance, markings messy but she handled well for her handler and showed a good temperament.

Junior Bitch

  1. Dalhaven U Give Me Fever - Well proportioned liver girl, nicely marked, well shaped head, dark eye and strong muzzle, good angulation, good straight round bone, good feet, nice neck and topline, well ribbed back with strong hindquarter and a good tail set, a fantastic attitude, moved very well.
  2. Starswept Aussie Idol - Nicely spotted black girl, lovely strong pigment, nice neck, good front, strong bone and feet, well ribbed back and held her topline well, strong hindquarter and moved well. A lovely shape.
  3. Seanmya Gift of Rocco - Another well shaped black girl, not as happy as the first two, eye colour a bit light but moved nicely and was well balanced with good angulation front and rear and good bone and feet.

Intermediate Bitch

  1. Subequana Georgie Girl - Beautifully marked black girl with lots of expression, lovely head with a round eye although eye colour could be better, good bone and cat feet, lovely neck into shoulder, well laid shoulder, flowing topline and good tail carriage. Moved well around the ring and out and back, well balanced girl. Inter of Show – moved well and with attitude right to the end.
  2. Hillofsilver Lulu - Bigger black girl, lightly spotted , good head with dark round eye, well balanced with a lovely neck , good front and rear angulation, good bone, not as happy as she could have been, flowing movement that kept improving as her confidence in the ring grew.
  3. Ch Sprintaway Rubica Red - Another big girl, liver, good neck and topline, well balanced and free moving. This girl's head needs more stop and a rounder eye. Preferred the fronts of the first two. Lovely attitude and she worked well for her handler.

Aus. Bred Bitch

  1. Ch Hillofsilver Lillibet - Compact liver girl, beautifully spotted, strong pigment, had a lovely attitude and expression to match, nice head and dark eye, good neck, good bone and feet, well balanced with good angulation front and rear, good ribbing and held her topline well. Moved freely and true. Aus Bred of Show – another girl who moved freely and maintained a wonderful attitude to the end.
  2. Ch Paceaway Iced Koffee - Another nice liver girl, moved well on profile, close behind on out and back, narrower muzzle than first and longer caste, lovely neck, dark eye, good bone and feet, well ribbed back good substance, held topline well and pretty markings.
  3. Ch Hartfeld Bello Regazza - Strong liver girl, messier spotting than first two, head is a bit doggy but has a good dark round eye. Nice body shape, good angulation fore and aft, good bone and moved quite well, showed well for her handler.

Open Bitch

  1. Gr Ch Pampard Pandamonium - Lovely balanced liver girl with a good head and expressive dark round eyes, good earset, lovely substance to size, strong round bone and great cat feet, good front and rear angulation, held her topline all the way, well ribbed back, strong hindquarters, good tail set, true movement out and back and freeflowing in profile. Good even markings and strong pigment. Quality girl with a wonderful attitude. Her strong bone, feet and substance to size gave her the edge.
  2. Ch Blairwick Foxy Lady ET - Another quality girl, black spotted with lovely pigmentation, good substance, bone and cat feet, lovely head and expression, dark eye, good angulation front and rear, level topline good ribbing, strong hindquarter and correct tail set. Well balanced girl who moved with beautiful freeflowing strides. Showed with a wonderful attitude too.
  3. Ch Paceaway Madison - Attractive liver girl, lovely head, good neck, good angulation front and rear, level topline, well ribbed back, very well balanced, moved well but lacked the spark of the first two today, well marked but pigment a bit light today.
