GENERAL OVERALL CRITIQUE OF TDCNSW  EASTER SPECIALTY

My overall impressions of the Dalmatians entered, was that there was great strength in the Baby Puppies and the Aust. Bred & Open classes.

The biggest problems I found were that they were not evenly well boned down to the feet and moving close behind. Some Dals were without a level topline or others unable to hold a topline on the move.

I found many almond shaped eyes, rather than the round, bright & sparkling. Generally, the heads were rather broad between the ears and refined with a moderate stop, although some were not so broad.

Angulation was generally good with oblique shoulders and elbows close to the body. Some were a little weak in pasterns. Rear angulation was good with moderately well bent stifles. Spotting overall was generally good , some lacking in pigmentation.

Some Dals had a fairly long cervical vertebrae, giving that lovely flow into the shoulders which is so desired. Most had a deep chest and moderate tuckup, some with more arching over the loins. Muscles were well developed in second thigh, hocks being well let down. Tail length was very good and much better than I have seen in the USA .

There were no exceptionally good "cat feet", some were turning out.

Coats were in the main good, some a little coarse and out of condition.

Spotting needs to be improved and ticking is undesirable.

Size is a problem in the breed with some exhibits over the "Ideal Height".

Rear movement when coming back to the judge was too close behind in many exhibits.

Special Veteran Sweeps :

1. Gr Ch Dumbledeer Youngs Hope ET  AI.  - P Davies & J & D Wright.

This bitch was shown in very good condition for her age, had a nice neck & ear set and good angulation, good depth of brisket.

Veteran Sweeps :

1. Gr Ch Swiftgait The Spellbinder - Besoff, Marshall & Vernon .

Liver dog, also entered in Aust. bred moving as the breed should, strong bone, nice neck flowing into the shoulders, good angulation. out moving the 2nd. placegetter.

2. Gr Ch Starswept Mocha Motion - Davies & Wright.

A balanced and sound liver with good head and ear set, strong round bone, firm topline, well pigmented, did not perform on the move as well as the class winner.

Baby Puppy Dog :

1. Dumbledeer Xeter - J. Lawson.

Lovely puppy, good head & ear set, well up in size, well marked, outgoing, moving well, up on his feet, free moving with good angulation.

2. Sprintaway Cherokee Chief - L & M Donald.

Another lovely baby with a nice coat & spotting, happy on the move but not as good as the 1st placing.

3. Hillofsilver Phoenix - A. Collins.

And yet another baby from a strong class, nice legs & feet, very good topline and held it on the move. Very promising.

Puppy Dog :

1. Gentry Justa Rockstar - A. Godyn.

Here is a fine specimen of the breed!  Moving well with a nice turn of stifle,  good spotting, just lacking a little in strong bone.

 Junior Dog :

1. Wanjdal Letme Entertain You - W & J Mc.Lean.

Well put together, Had a coat problem, Dark spotting, a little unruly on the day, should improve with time on his side!

Good moving liver dog with oblique shoulders, strong bone, good legs and feet, well muscled second thigh, lovely neck flowing into shoulders.

Very good broad head and ear set, nicely tapered ears, held high, angulation fore and aft good.  Very good spotting.

Open Dog :

1. Ch Dalridge Philosfers Stone - I, J & S Marshall.

An excellent moving liver, which is his forte. Strong bone, good depth of brisket, shown thin, holding topline on the move. I forgave the many tick marks in the coat as he outclassed the other placegetters when asked to move he did it with style. AWARDED C.C.

2. Gr Ch Pampard Paris Project - Besoff, Marshall & Vernon

Good, broad head, nice ear set, excellent spotting, correct depth of brisket, good topline, moving a little close in the rear. I considered him for first placing but he was outmoved by the winner. AWARDED R .C .C.

Nice broad head and good eye colour, nice neck, flowing into the shoulders, firm, level topline, not moving as well as the above two.

This baby at 3 1/2 months of age has good spotting, strong bone, nicely arched neck flowing into the shoulders.

3. Hillofsilver Prisaya - D. Johnson.

Very good head, lovely ears & ear set, amber eye colour, spotting not as good as her sister, not moving as good as either of the above today, but nevertheless, a promising baby.

Junior Bitch :

1. Gentry Swept By Stars - P.Davies & J & D Wright.

Broad head, rounded ears, topskull & muzzle about equal, gentle rise to the upper head, level topline, oblique shoulders, moderate turn of stifle.

1. Ch. Starswept Miss Molly Jones - A. Godyn.

A good moving liver with a good topline, spotted ears, although I did not like her overall spotting with ticking, she outmoved the second in this class.

2. Dumbledeer U B Wicked - J. Lawson.

A nice black spotted bitch with a good coat & spotting, moderately oblique shoulder, deep brisket, good turn of stifle, not moving as well as the above, but shown well.

Aust. Bred Bitch.

1. Ch Hillofsilver Lillibet - D. Johnson.

A superb liver oozing quality, broad refined head, amber eyes, strong round bone down evenly to feet, correct pasterns, deep chest, base of ears level with top of skull, fine in texture, great front, long nicely arched neck flowing into oblique & muscular shoulders, elbows close to the body, hocks well let down, when asked to move, she covered the ground effortlessly.

RESERVE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE & RUNNER-UP TO BEST  IN  SHOW.

A black spotted bitch with a broad head, well placed ears close to the head, lacking spotting pigmentation, has a deep chest with a good front, stifle well bent, topline was high in the rear  and on the move did not settle down.

Open Bitch :

1. Ch Hillofsilver Lulu        Dr. N.C. Doong.

As for her sister, a "Twin" in Aust. Bred, but with better movement behind, I had no hesitation in selecting her as my CHALLENGE BITCH ,SUPREME AWARD WINNER.  BEST  IN  SHOW.

2. Gr. Ch. Krystaway Nikita La Femme - R & D Harbin .

Liver bitch with good head & ear set, plenty of angulation  in shoulders and a good turn of stifle with hocks well let down, deep chest, Coat ticked up which spoilt her outline. Did not move as the class winner. Shown well.
